Cloud cover has moved into New Mexico today with relatively calm conditions. Temperatures have climbed to near average this afternoon. As we head through the later evening hours, showers and storms will begin to develop across southeastern and eastern New Mexico. Heavy rain, strong wind gusts, and hail are expected with the threat of flooding for parts of Cury, Roosevelt, Chaves, Eddy and Lea counties. These storms will continue to move through overnight and into the day Saturday.
Temperatures will continue to rebound through the first half of the weekend as humid air will stick around to the east, setting up a wetter and more-wintry storm system to arrive late this weekend into early next week with a stronger upper-level low pressure system eventually approaching from the northwest by Sunday evening.
