WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the Tori Lynn Andreozzi Foundation got together Friday morning to honor the heroes who keep Rhode Islanders safe from impaired drivers. 12 News' Shannon Hegy served as the master of ceremonies for the breakfast, which was held at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. MADD gave its "Excellence in Service" award to both Andrew Tainsh, who works for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), and Colleen Judge of Rhode Island Student Assistance Services. RIDOT Director Peter Alviti earned the "Ripple Effect" award, named after the department's safe driving campaign of the same name, and Attorney General Peter Neronha was recognized for the passage of the "DUI Lookback Bill." RELATED: Nonprofit looks to reunite trauma survivors with the first responders who saved them Police officers from Bristol, Charlestown, Coventry, Cranston, Cumberland, Hopkinton, Johnston, Lincoln, Middletown, Narragansett, Newport, North Providence, Pawtucket, Portsmouth, Providence, Richmond, Scituate, South Kingstown, Tiverton, Warren, Warwick, Westerly, and Woonsocket were recognized with DUI Achievement Pins, as were several Rhode Island State Troopers.
