Firecrackers set off in Suffolk school bathroom; police investigating

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- Suffolk police are investigating after someone set off firecrackers in a bathroom at King's Fork High School Friday afternoon.
A police spokesperson confirmed to WAVY the initial call came in as a report of gunshots being fired at the high school. Upon further investigation, it was determined that firecrackers were ignited in a school bathroom.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., parents of students at the high school received an email informing them of the incident and provided additional details.
Both King's Fork high and middle schools were temporarily placed on hold, which required students to remain in their classrooms and the halls to be cleared.
No one was injured, and there was no significant damage to school property, police said.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
