The initial investigation shows that the bicyclist was heading south on Barataria Boulevard near the right fog line, approaching Eighty Arpent road, when a 2015 Ford F-250, driven by 34-year-old Mark Allen Sicuro, of Marrero, was also heading south on Barataria Boulevard in the right lane.
For reasons that are still being investigated, as the Ford passed the bicyclist, he was allegedly hit by the truck's tires and thrown from the bicycle. The bicyclist was fatally injured and died on scene. The victim's identity is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified. Sicuro and the other passengers in the ford were restrained and uninjured.
