Kentuckians not slowing down for day two of early voting
Nov 01, 2024
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — There are three days of early voting and Kentuckians are not shying away from heading to the polls.
“We saw 225,696 Kentuckians vote early yesterday, that’s an eye-popping number. The first day of early voting in 2020 we had 57,000,” Secretary of State Michael Adams said.
He adds that there are not long lines at every polling location, but when you have a lot of people wanting to do the same thing at once, waiting in inevitable.
“The key is to be patient and also to realize that the line will be longer on Tuesday than it is today or tomorrow so I still encourage voters to vote early,” he said.
He says so far early voting has been smooth sailing, but there was one incident out in Laurel County of a woman sharing a TikTok of what appeared to be a malfunctioning ballot box.
“There was a ballot marking device that a voter hit incorrectly not following instruction,” Adams said. “The voter confirmed to the media that the vote was cast for the candidate that she supported, unfortunately, she didn’t put that in her tiktok video.”
He adds that it’s important to research who will be on the ballot before showing up to vote. Research the candidates, constitutional amendments and other items by looking at a sample ballot beforehand.
