Both men involved in I40 road rage shooting through Alamance County charged, Graham police say

GRAHAM, N.C. (WGHP) -- Two people have been charged in an Alamance County road rage incident, according to police.
Graham Police Department says that two men involved in a shooting on I-40 on Oct. 23 have now been charged.
They obtained warrants on Oct. 28 for Richard Alan Coane, 62, of Mebane, and Lavaughn Jerome Andrew Morton, 31, of Greensboro. Both of them were charged with attempt to discharge a firearm into an occupied vehicle and discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear.

Coane turned himself in to police on Oct. 29. He was given a $105,000 bond. Morton was apprehended in East Point, Georgia on Friday and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
Police say that on the afternoon of Oct. 23, officers responded to the area of Interstate 40 at Exit 150 when they were told about a shooting between two vehicles. According to police, the road rage incident between Coane and Morton began in the University Drive area of Burlington and continued down the interstate towards Graham.
Both Morton and Coane allegedly shot at each other, but no one was hurt. One of the men involved was found at a Loves Truck Stop on Trollingwood Hawfields Road, and the other at his home in Mebane.
