FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department are investigating an apparent shooting on the city's south side that took place at around 12:40 p.m. A news release issued by the department indicates officers were sent to the 3500 block of South Lafayette near the intersection of Oxford Street on a report of shots fired. After arriving, officers were told by witnesses that they saw a person flee from the area after they heard gunshots. A short time later police were told that a boy showed up a a hospital suffering from gunshot wounds which were deemed to be critical, but not life-threatening. At one point, around a dozen police squad cars were on the scene and yellow police tape had been strung up to cordon off an area. The investigation also disrupted northbound traffic on Lafayette Street. Police have not made any arrests and the incident remains under investigation.
