Food drive set to benefit local seniors in need

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Silver Key Senior Services is launching a pantry food drive meant to benefit local seniors in need.
From November through December, participating grocery stores will collect non-perishable food items to support Silver Key's Pantry. Donations will go to older adults and ensure they have access to nutritious meals during the holiday season and beyond.
“We are calling on the community to join us in supporting this vital cause,” said Jason DeaBueno, President and CEO of Silver Key Senior Services. “Many older adults in our community face food insecurity, especially during the colder months. This food drive is a simple but impactful way to ensure seniors aren’t going hungry this holiday season and throughout the year.”
Participating stores include King Soopers located at 9225 N. Union Blvd. and Safeway at 1425 Murray Blvd. You can drop off items at either of these two stores. The year-round food pantry is located at 1625 Murray Blvd. and will be accepting donations Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Some of the most needed items include peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna and chicken, cereal, pancake mix, cooking spray, canned fruit and vegetables, pork and beans, pasta and sauce, boxed meals, rice, and pet food.
All donations will go towards Silver Key's Food Assistance Programs, which serves thousands of seniors annually.
