Climate predictions hinting at warm and dry November
Nov 01, 2024
(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The first day of November welcomes in the final month of meteorological fall. Temperatures should now start to favor 50s more than 60s.
The last couple months of the year usually include some of the most drastic temperature swings we see all year. November may start in the upper 50s but will likely end closer to the upper 40s.
Latest data from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) points to a near average November. Portions of far eastern Colorado may experience slightly warmer than average temperatures in November but for the most part, this month is setting up to be fairly standard.
As far as moisture goes, the CPC is also highlighting the potential for average moisture conditions across the region. Portions of the east central plains may favor above average moisture with spotty dry conditions possible across the east coast.
The CPC also issues three-month outlooks while monitoring trends and patterns. The latest release from the CPC is hinting at the potential for above-average temperatures here in Southern Colorado. This pattern may also be present for much of the United States.
The three-month outlook discussing moisture potential is looking a bit more bleak. Dry conditions are likely to develop around the region for November, December and January. Remember, these are not forecasts from the CPC, but rather outlooks. They're a bit more general and attempt to tell a story in relation to averages.
With all of this being said, the FOX21 Storm Team is watching for a potentially active week of weather coming up for the beginning of November. Southern Colorado may experience several different systems next week, so conditions will need to be monitored closely.
