SCHEELS board chairman to receive Rough Rider Award Nov. 26

FARGO, ND (KXNET) — The date has been announced for the award ceremony where Steve D. Scheel, board chairman emeritus of the retail store SCHEELS, will receive the North Dakota Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award in recognition of his leadership and philanthropy.
The award ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. on November 26 at the SCHEELS store in Fargo.
Space is limited on a first-come, first-served basis, and doors open at 7:15 p.m. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP at scheels.com/roughriderawards.
Burgum announced Scheel as the 50th recipient of the Rough Rider Award, which is considered the state’s highest commendation for its citizens, on October 11.

North Dakota Secretary of State Michael Howe and State Historical Society Director Bill Peterson both concurred with Burgum’s selection.
According to the Office of Gov. Doug Burgum, under Scheel’s leadership, the employee-owned company grew to more than 13,000 associates and 34 stores in 16 states.
Scheel also expanded the company’s tradition of being a major philanthropic partner to nonprofits, charitable organizations, and communities.
