WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said a man was arrested on Thursday for stealing puppy "Pepper" from a boat in Navy Yard. On Oct. 11, police were called to the 100 block of Potomac Avenue for the report of a theft. Officers discovered that a boat had been broken into and a 3-month-old black Cane Corso named “Pepper” was stolen. Soon after, MPD released pictures of the dog and on Oct.19 a “good Samaritan” returned Pepper to his owner in good condition. On October 31, police arrested and charged 18-year-old Dante Eley of Southeast D.C. with Theft in The Second Degree and Destruction of Property.
