ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Irondequoit Bay Outlet Bridge is open to traffic! Crews from the Monroe County Department of Transportation swung the bridge back into place. The bridge was originally closed in Spring for boats to transport past the bridge. Crews installed hydraulic jacks to lift the bridge and remove the bearings manually before swinging the bridge for traffic to cross. It took a few hours to prepare before the 20-30 minute process. The bridge will remain open to traffic, however it is scheduled to close on March 31 to traffic.
