(BCN) -- A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew hoisted two stranded boaters out of the Napa Sonoma Wildlife Marsh on Wednesday night.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was sent about 7:45 p.m. to locate the distressed boaters, who were aboard a 19-foot vessel. They were found about an hour later in an area of the marsh about two miles south of the Napa County Airport.

"I quickly realized that a rescue boat was not going to be possible, due to the tides, so our crew knew we needed to assist," said Lt. Cmdr. Molly R. Smith, a pilot with Air Station San Francisco. "Given the cold weather conditions, our priority was ensuring the safety of the boaters and preventing hypothermia."
All mariners and anyone planning to be out on the water should always file a float plan, check the weather and tide conditions before heading out, the Coast Guard said.
