TOPEKA (KSNT) - A north Topeka flower and tuxedo rental shop is shutting down this month after serving the community for more than two decades. 27 News spoke with Brenda Wenrich, owner of Heaven Scent Flowers and Tuxedos, who confirms she will close up shop for the last time on Friday, Nov. 22. Her business has been around for 21 years, serving locals with flowers, gifts and tuxedo rentals for everything from weddings to proms. "I didn't know anything about north Topeka when we bought this building," Wenrich said. "Over the 21 years I've made so many friends. All the people in north Topeka are just so sweet." Brenda Wenrich, owner of Heaven Scent Flowers and Tuxedos, speaks with 27 News about buying flowers ahead of Mother's Day in 2024. New roundabouts in the works for Topeka, Shawnee County Wenrich said another small business from north Topeka will be moving into her building once she officially retires. She didn't say which business would be taking her place. "I just can't say enough with how pleased I've been with all the support over the years," Wenrich said. "I'm gonna miss the people obviously." Heaven Scent is a small store, employing only a handful of people at a time, and is a family-run business. Wenrich and her staff have helped supply people with flowers and gifts for all sorts of occasions, whether that be celebrating new beginnings at weddings or saying a final goodbye to a loved one at a funeral. "What I'd just like to say is a big thank you to all the people who've supported me over all the years," Wenrich said. While Wenrich plans to get out of the flower and tuxedo rental business, she won't fully retire quite yet. She said she is looking forward to continuing to help locals any way she can. She hopes to pick up work as a para in a local elementary school after spending some time visiting with family after Nov. 22. "I have to do something that makes me feel good," Wenrich said.
