SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - Nadia Milleron, independent candidate for the 1st congressional district, held a press conference on Thursday in support of a bill that she says would help combat the opioid epidemic.

The bill is called the Import Security and Fairness Act and would change the laws for imported packages into the US.
Congressional Candidate Nadia Milleron says packages that contain these drugs enter the country through a loophole, stating packages under $800 in value aren't inspected.
Milleron is claiming that Congressman Richard Neal is blocking this legislation from passing, but Congressman Neal says he has already taken action to create change.
"The purpose of this simple legislation is to allow inspection of packages and that inspection will save lives," says Milleron.
"They are late to the game. Ed Markey and I were doing events in Holyoke Massachusetts five years ago securing billions of dollars across the country for treating Fentynal abuse and Opioid addiction," said Congressman Neal.
Milleron's news conference comes in the final stretch before the November 5th election.
She hopes to unseat Congressman Neal who is running for his 19th term in Congress.
