Motorcyclist dies after crash on Jamestown Bridge

JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — The motorcyclist involved in a crash on the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge Thursday afternoon has died, according to Rhode Island State Police.
Troopers were called to the eastbound side of the bridge around 3:30 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a motorcycle.
An investigation revealed Jonathan W. Hopkins, 34, of South Kingstown, rear-ended a van while weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.
He was rushed to Newport Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, state police said.
The driver and passenger in the van were not hurt, state police said, and no charges are pending.
