PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island FC is heading to Indianapolis this weekend for its first-ever playoff match in its historic inaugural season. After a record-breaking 8-1 victory against Miami FC, Rhode Island finished fifth place in the USL Championship Group East. The team now takes on Indy Eleven at 1 p.m. Sunday in the single-elimination Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. RIFC faced Indy twice this season, tying them 3-3 at home and losing 1-0 in Indianapolis. Rhode Island is unbeaten in its last six matches heading into the postseason, with its last loss coming on Sept. 14.
