LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! Rain is exiting out of eastern Kentucky as we have cooler temperatures moving on in. You can expect some lingering showers through the morning hours for far southeastern Kentucky, while everyone else will continue to clear out. A chilly northwesterly breeze will be with us through the day, limiting our afternoon temperature climb. Most locations will only reach the low 60s, with a few mid-60s possible. Chilly start to the weekend A chilly overnight is expected with temperatures falling into the upper 30s and low 40s by Saturday morning. This is right around average for this time of the year but noticeably cooler than the last few nights. We will warm-up a touch Saturday afternoon, reaching the mid-to-upper 60s. If you have Saturday evening plans you can expect chilly conditions with evening temperatures falling into the 40s. However, a warm front will be lifting through the area Saturday night. This will give us a quick shower chance early in the day on Saturday. The passing front will also bump up our temperatures by Sunday morning and lead to surge of warmth by Sunday afternoon. Record warmth possible early next week The surge of warmth will continue Monday into Tuesday (Election Day) of next week.  The record high in Lexington is 78 (2015) on Monday and 79 on Tuesday (1977). Both records will be well within reach. Monday should remain mainly dry but there will be a rain chance late in the day on Election Day. Election Day Forecast Election Day could feature some rain late in the day. A cold front will be approaching once again from the central U.S. This will be firing up showers and storms ahead of it. As of this morning, our current forecast holds the rain off until Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning. This will also likely drop our temperatures again by Wednesday into Thursday of next week. Looking ahead, the pattern does look to turn more active over the first few weeks of November. ABC 36 HOUR FORECAST FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy early, mostly sunny afternoon. Highs in the low-to-mid 60s. FRIDAY NIGHT: Mostly clear and much cooler. Lows in the upper 30s and low 40s.
