HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) - A man found guilty of murder in the stabbing death of his grandmother left the Huntington County Courthouse proclaiming his innocence Friday morning.
"I did not commit this crime," Anthony J. Castleman said while being led away from the courthouse by law enforcement officers.
Thursday, a jury found Castleman guilty of murder in connection to the 2023 death of 72-year-old Bernice Eubanks.

Castleman disappeared in the aftermath of Eubanks' killing last November, sparking a manhunt that included law enforcement using billboards plastered with his mugshot throughout the area. U.S. Marshals tracked him down in Georgia the day before Christmas last year.
Friday, the same jury which found him guilty of murder also found him guilty of being a habitual offender, with several felony convictions in his past. That could tack on more prison time to the 45 to 65 years he faces for the murder charge levied against him.
"Oppression is worse than slaughter," he also said while leaving the courthouse.
Castleman is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 13.
