Wawabranded tumblers recalled over 'laceration hazard'
Nov 01, 2024
(WHTM) – Approximately 60,000 reusable tumblers sold exclusively at Wawa convenience stores have been recalled due to a hazard posed by the cups' metal straws.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the tumblers have been recalled because the metal straw inside the tumbler can pose a laceration hazard to users' hands or mouths. As of Thursday, there had been four such reports of injuries.

The 24-ounce tumblers, distributed by HALO Branded Solutions, Inc., came in four varieties — Sailor Breeze, The Galaxy, Island Surf and The Mermaid — pictured below. All were imprinted with the word "Wawa." Each cost around $13, according to the CPSC's notice.

The products were sold in August at Wawa locations in Alabama; Washington, D.C.; Delaware; Florida; Maryland; North Carolina; New Jersey; Pennsylvania, and Virginia. A representative for Wawa confirmed to the Associated Press that around 5,400 of the tumblers had been sold.
Customers who purchased the recalled tumblers in August are being urged to refrain from using the straws, and instead contact HALO for a silicone replacement. (Customers seeking a replacement must contact HALO for a pre-paid envelope to return the metal straws.) They can also request a refund in the form of a $15 gift card if they do not wish to keep the tumbler.
"Consumers should not return the recalled units to Wawa stores," reads a portion of the notice.
Further information and instructions can be obtained from HALO at the company's official website, by email at [email protected], or by calling the company at 855-425-6266.
