At Joseph Pye Elementary, there is an environment of academic excellence, love, and fun, and teachers and students say it's all thanks to their principal. Dr. Priscilla Johnson receives the News 2 Cool School Principal award.Dr. Priscilla Johnson is in her fourth year at Pye, her third as principal. She began her career in Dorchester School District Two in 2006, first as a teacher, and then as assistant principal, and now serves as the school's leader. Last year, she challenged teachers to make sure 100% of Pye's students were on grade level in reading and math by the end of the school year. The school made tremendous gains, and showed the highest growth in the district, moving from good to excellent in one year on the school report card. Her hall dance moves, and "On Cloud Nine" podcast are very popular.  Students and staff say she treats everyone like family, with lines of students waiting for her daily hugs.
