Teen dead, another critically injured after shooting in east Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 14-year-old boy is dead, and a 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after a shooting in east Wichita Thursday night. It happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 500 block of N. Oliver.
Both victims were transported to Wesley Hospital by private vehicle. Wichita police say they talked to many people who were uncooperative.
"There were several arrests made that were unrelated to the shooting," Capt. Chad Beard, Wichita Police Department, said. "But in an attempt to contain the scene, officers had to make arrests."

Police worked to gather video evidence. The QuikTrip at the location was closed while police investigated, but it has reopened.
There was also a large police presence at Wesley Medical Center right after the shooting.
