MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) - More than two dozen firefighters worked to put out a brush fire that was rapidly approaching a house in Monson Thursday afternoon.
Red Flag Warning: Brush fire danger high in western Massachusetts
According to the Monson Fire Department, they received the call about the fire in the area of 59 and 65 Bradway Road at around 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The fire was in a remote location, and several neighboring fire departments were called in to provide assistance and special equipment.
Approximately 20 to 30 firefighters were able to get everything under control by about 7:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for high brush fire danger on Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for all of western Massachusetts. A Red Flag Warning is the highest level of caution issued by the National Weather Service and is issued when dry conditions meet high wind speeds. This means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring, and any fires that start may spread rapidly and become difficult to extinguish.
