Crash on Kamehameha Hwy leaves 26yo motorcyclist dead

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Honolulu EMS treated a motorcyclist who suffered critical injuries and the driver of a vehicle who crashed.

A 26-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Kamehameha Hwy behind a 27-year-old motorist when he attempted to overtake the driver, according to officials.
As the motorist attempted to make a left turn from Kamehameha Hw onto Ke Nui Road, she was broadsided by the 26-year-old motorcyclist.
Kalanianaole Hwy closes for police investigation
The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway as a result of the collision.
He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injures.
The motorist sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Police are continuing to investigate this incident but speed does appear to have played a factor.
