Should you be elected, what are three specific areas you’d like to change, address, improve or further research, and how specifically would you go about it?: Completing the phase-in of the Fair School Funding Formula: During my second term in office, I was proud to champion the Fair School Funding Formula, a comprehensive reform of Ohio’s public K-12 funding model. Passed as part of HB 110 (134th General Assembly, Oelslager), the Fair School Funding Formula ended over four decades of unconstitutional school funding formulas. With HB 33 (135th General Assembly, Edwards) funding the 3rd and 4th year of the 6-year phase-in, I look forward to completing the phase-in during the 136th General Assembly and fully implementing the formula.
Continue to support career technical education: By investing in career technical programs, both at the high school level and in dedicated programs, we will ensure that students graduate ready to meet the demands of an ever-changing workforce. I am proud to have supported Career Tech programing at the Alliance for Working Together (AWT), Lakeland Community College, and the Auburn Career Center with both operating support and capital improvements. These programs ensure that Lake County continues to be a hub of high paying manufacturing jobs.
Defend Lake Erie and our natural resources: Lake Eire is one of our greatest assets, supporting tens of thousands of jobs and providing recreational opportunities for millions across Northeast Ohio and the entire Great Lakes region. Serving as the Ohio House’s representative on the Great Lakes Commission, I am proud to champion conservation efforts to improve water quality, mitigate costal erosion, and ensure future generations are able to enjoy the natural beauty of our streams, rivers, and lakes.
Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you?: As I seek my final term in the Ohio General Assembly, I am proud to all I have accomplished over the past 6 years. As a tireless champion for Lake County, I am proud to have secured funding for dozens of projects across Lake County and Northeast Ohio. As a leading voice in Columbus for education reform, I am proud to have finally passed a constitutional K-12 funding model. As an advocate for smaller government and reducing government regulation, I am proud to have served as Chair of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review all seven of my terms as a State Legislator. In my final term, I will continue to be a voice for the people of Northeast Ohio and a advocate for limited government.
