Two men in custody after man shot at SDSU Transit Center
Oct 31, 2024
A man was shot at the San Diego State University Transit Center on Thursday afternoon, and two people have been arrested, authorities said.
School authorities were looking for a third possible suspect in the shooting, which happened just before 5 p.m. near the trolley stop. But they later said that, after a thorough search, they had determined that the third person was not on or near the campus.
San Diego police Officer Joe Perales said officers arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital. Perales said the man’s wounds were not considered life-threatening.
SDSU sent out an alert saying that two suspects had been arrested, included one who is suspected to have been the gunman. Authorities also recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting.
Officials also sent out an alert telling people to remain indoors and advising that University evening classes and events and activities, including Aztec Nights events had been canceled. They later sent out an “all clear” message about 8 p.m. and said there was no threat to the campus community — but said activities remained canceled.
An earlier alert from the school noted that the people involved are not believed to be affiliated with the school.
No further information was immediately available.
