ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Thurston Road YMCA Neighborhood Center got into the Halloween spirit Thursday night, with all treats and no tricks. Nearly 20 local organizations attended the free event, which also worked to provide necessary resources and information to community members. Safety was the number one concern, according to one group in attendance.

"It's the safety component," Cam Lewis with UPrep Charter School for Young Men began. "There's a lot of crazy things happening in the city, and in the world, and we want to - first of all, just be mentors and give them a positive space with people that look like them and that are doing professional things - things that they can aspire to. But, when you're a kid, you deserve to play and have a good time."
Attendees included Rochester police officers, firefighters, officials from the mayor's office and People's Choice Kitchen. Numerous children came out as well, including this young man who seemed extra excited to be featured!
Thursday's Halloween bash included a costume contest, a raffle to win two bicycles, pumpkin painting and, of course, plenty of candy for the sweet tooths out there.
