ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A local food pantry welcomed a much-needed boost for Halloween Thursday. Tops Friendly Markets contributed a significant donation, along with multiple carts of food items for the Hilton-Parma Emergency Food Shelf. With the help of the Hilton Apple Festival, where Tops held its Big Wheel Spin to Win promotion, the store raised $2,335 for the pantry, the largest donation to the pantry Tops has made to date. At the festival, folks had the opportunity to spend a dollar to spin the wheel and win prizes - from a bag of apples to Tops gift cards. All of the proceeds went straight to the Hilton-Parma food pantry. "This donation is a hefty portion of our income for the year. We use it for everything - Thanksgiving Meals," said Tina Zebulske, the pantry director. "We're going to do probably 2 hundred Thanksgiving meals. We use it to purchase special dietary items, we fill our shelves with this money, it's all spent right here and given back to the community."
