WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW)—The pediatric unit at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis got into the spooky spirit Thursday. Since children getting care can't go trick or treating, the staff brought Halloween to them. The children dressed up in costumes and met Bluey and Bingo from the kid's TV show "Bluey." There were also games and activities, including a scavenger hunt and a ping-pong eyeball catapult. 10-year-old Kansas boy dies after battle with leukemia Those who could not leave their hospital rooms had treats delivered to their doors. "We had one child who has been here for a number of weeks and has had a really rough time. This is the first day that I've seen him actually smile in about a week and a half," said Cristine Hailey, who works in Ascension Via Christi St. Francis' Child Life Department. The festivities were made possible in part by the spirit of Halloween. Since 2007, the costume store has donated over $127 million to hospitals in the U.S. and Canada.
