RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond has announced that it has named a new Director of Revenue and Deputy Director of Finance.
For the position of Director of Revenue, the city has chosen Jamie Atkinson, who has 15 years of federal experience with government agencies and nonprofits -- most recently as the Budget Director of the Austin Transit Partnership.
Atkinson, who attended Christopher Newport University and the College of William and Mary, will be responsible for revenue collections of the city, business tax and personal property assessments and administration of tax relief programs. She will also help prepare the annual financial audit, revenue projections and manage collection rates, according to the city.
For the position of Deputy Director of Finance, the city has chosen Thomasena Gadson, who has over 21 years of experience in government and the private sector, most recently working in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer's Tax Collections and Enforcement Administration.
Gadson is involved with assessments and billing, as well as technology improvements, and is leading the city's effort to streamline processes and improve services.
“We are excited to welcome both Jamie and Thomasena to Richmond. Their financial expertise will be a benefit to both residents and the administration as we move forward to strengthen the Department of Finance,” said Richmond Chief Administrative Officer Lincoln Saunders.
