GREEN BAY, WI (WFRV) - There is no shortage of folks getting into the Halloween spirit in a way that's "Positively Wisconsin." Green Bay firefighters are making sure everyone has an "unbeleafable" time. They posted to Station 5's Facebook page that Capt. Gourd was wishing trick-or-treaters a safe and spooktacular Halloween. They asked everyone to stay alert and safe to ensure a "gourd" time! Local 5's Michele McCormack also dipped into her camera roll to share a recent visit to the spookiest city with some sisters from Neenah. Many are drawn to Salem, Massachusettes this time of year because of its infamous history with the witch trials. Michele got to experience its spooky streets with Beverly Cloudman and Mary Jane Hartley who grew up nearby. They are now true Wisconites and Packers fans who enjoyed a recent tour through their old haunts. "You just get very close to your neighbors while you're walking down the street here," Cloudman said." Everybody's so friendly. Even the zombies!" The other Wisconsin connection to Salem is dairy farmer Channing Mather of Sheboygan County. Long before he wrote extensively about cheese production in the 1800s. His ancestor, Connor Mather, was in Salem and wrote extensively on witchcraft.
