SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The state is investigating a fire that occurred early Thursday morning near Coastal State Prison. The fire broke out at an empty storage building at 200 Gulfstream Rd. The Savannah Fire Department responded to the scene. Pooler Fire-Rescue responds to S Oliver Street blaze The fire was not located near the secure area of the prison, so officials said no inmates or staff were in danger. The state has taken over the investigation of the cause of the incident because the fire occurred on state property.
