MCINTOSH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released an incident report for the Sapelo Island gangway collapse that killed seven and injured others. The report said that a DNR game warden was notified at 3:55 p.m. and responded at 4:06 p.m. to the collapse. The warden said that he and two McIntosh Deputies responded via Patrol Vessel from the DNR Law Enforcement Division Building located in Meridian. A ferry near the collapse had put out floatation devices for the victims. There were personal items such as infant strollers, chairs and clothing in the water with the victims, the report said. Savannah Fire assists with fire near Coastal State Prison "At this time there was no definitive answer if there were individuals unaccounted for," the report said. "Due to the nature of the items floating, priority was to rescue/recover drowningvictims. " The warden said that he saw several people receiving CPR on the bank and dropped the two deputies off to render aid to others. There was also an automated external defibrillator (AED) being used on victims. "At this time individuals were observed as deceased, along with others having internalbleeding, cardiac complications, light pulses and diabetic complications," the report said.
