Man arrested hiding under 12yearold girl's bed, Statesboro PD says

STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) - The Statesboro Police Department (SPD) have arrested a 17-year-old male who was hiding under a 12-year-old girl's bed.

SPD said that officers were notified by a parent that her 12-year-old daughter may have had inappropriate contact with an adult male. The male arranged to sneak into the girl's room that afternoon.
Officers responded to the mother's home while she and the daughter went to the police department, SPD said.
SPD said that the male, Christopher Grant, was located hiding under the juvenile’s bed and detained.
He was found to be in unlawful possession of a handgun, SPD said. The serial number on the gun had been obliterated.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Grant was transported to the Bulloch County Jail on the following charges: aggravated child molestation, sodomy, possession of an article with analtered serial number, possession of a handgun by a person under the age of 18 andcriminal trespass.
SPD said that this case highlights the importance of parental involvement in the lives and activities of children, particularly with social interactions and on social media platforms. Theparent in this case noticed suspicious activity and reported it to law enforcement immediately.
"Kudos to her," said Captain Jared Akins with Statesboro Police. "She runs a very busy schedule but she still finds time to be involved in what goes on with her juvenile and that's huge so we really encourage that because we don't know what's going on in your house but you certainly do and nowadays as a parent with everything that kids have to absorb and have access to, it's never been more important to be in your child's life."
