OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - An overnight pursuit ended in an officer-involved shooting in Southwest Oklahoma City.
“I looked out the window and realized it was a shooting, so I just basically woke my husband up and told him to drop to the floor,” said Janie Granados who lives nearby. “It was very scary.”

The ordeal started with OKCPD officers trying to make a traffic stop near SW 59th and May around 1 a.m. However the driver did not pull over, sparking a pursuit.
“It’s important to note that at several points during this pursuit, he stopped to fire at police officers,” said MSgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “So several places along the way, he was shooting at police.”
The suspect led police to a house near SW 66th St. and Penn Ave., where police said the suspect got out of the car and continued shooting at officers.
"Officers returned fire. The suspect was hit,” said Knight. “He went inside the residence. Ultimately our tactical unit responded to the scene, made entry, and took the suspect into custody."
The suspect was taken to the hospital. He was the only one injured.
The three officers involved in the shooting are now on routine administrative leave.

Granados said this type of incident is rare for the area and she’s grateful for how it was handled.
"It makes me appreciate our system, our police, SWAT team, everything that I saw,” said Granados. “I did pray for them, for their protection.”
Police said there was a passenger in the suspect’s car as well. After police tried to make the traffic stop, she jumped out of the car and attempted to run off, but was quickly taken into custody.
The suspect’s name has not been released yet.
