Thursday, a residence in the 4900 block of Spottswood was vacant and quiet, a totally different atmosphere from Wednesday according to one neighbor who spoke with WREG.
"Just about 10 or 15 cop cars, lots of police over there," said Rebecca Vanelli, a witness to the police activity. "We talked to some of the police and they said they thought they were running a chop shop or something."
MPD investigators here recovering what was left of a stolen 2017 Nissan Altima and putting handcuffs on Turner.
"They were over there most of the day," Vanelli said. "They took one guy away that they found behind the garage. I don't know what happened with him."

Turner's charged with prohibited operation and ownership of a chop shop, theft of property and vandalism.
According to the police, the owner of the stolen Nissan reported she left her car on I-40 near Austin Peay with a flat tire on October 7.
However, when she returned the following day it was gone.
So, what exactly led police to the East Memphis rental property?

As it turns out, the stolen Nissan was posted for sale for $210 on a car-buying site called Peddle.
When a potential buyer showed up, a check of the car's VIN number showed it was stolen and police were called.
The Auto Theft Task Force found that the stolen Nissan had a number of parts stripped from it and it appeared in the process of being chopped on the property.

Turner told investigators someone named "TB" dropped the car off and the Nissan was already damaged.
He said he didn't know the car was "hot" and tried to sell it after "TB" never came back for it.
"Hopefully, that's all," Vanelli said. "We won't have any more of that go on in this neighborhood."
Lawton Turner appeared in court Thursday morning. He was given a $15,000 bond but it's unclear if he has posted bond or remains in jail.
