Keywine Gibson Jr. (via DCSO) Muncie police were dispatched around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday to a stabbing at an apartment complex on N. Marleon Drive. The caller said a female was outside screaming and that a man had just run away from the area. Officers found the victim at IU Ball Memorial Hospital where she told investigators what happened. She said she'd just returned from buying groceries when she saw a man standing near the bushes by her unit. As she began to walk up the stairs, she heard the man behind her. The woman said she turned around and saw her ex-boyfriend, Keywine Gibson, running toward her with a handgun. She told police that she and Gibson had broken up about a week ago. Court documents detail how Gibson reportedly pulled the gun out and pointed it at her, but then put the pistol away. He then allegedly pulled out a knife and began to stab the woman. While the woman was unable to remember approximately how many times she was stabbed, hospital staff found more than 20 puncture marks on her clothes. Officials said that the victim needed 32 staples in the back of her head due to stab wounds. She also had cuts on her chest, armpits, neck, back and shoulders.
