Early voting in Indiana surpasses 1 million voters
Oct 31, 2024
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales announced on Thursday that one million people in the Hoosier state have voted ahead of Election Day, either by absentee mail-in ballots or in-person voting.
“As of today, over a million eligible Hoosiers have already taken advantage of early voting options, demonstrating our state’s dedication to the principles of civic engagement and active involvement," Secretary Morales said. "I am proud to see so many Hoosiers getting out to the polls and voting. I encourage every eligible voter who has not yet cast their ballot to make a plan and head to the polls."
The Secretary of State reminded Hoosiers that early voting is a statewide opportunity, yet the ability to do so may mean higher turnouts and longer lines.
Despite the wait times, Secretary Morales reminded Hoosiers of the importance of their votes, calling them "...vital to our state and our country."
Per Secretary Morales, all voters must bring a valid ID with them to the polls. Additionally, all mail-in absentee ballots must be received at county election offices no later than 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5 (Election Day).
