New Haven launches website to promote city events and projects
Oct 31, 2024
NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) - Thursday, New Haven officials announced the launch of a website that gives the community direct access to information on what's happening in the city.
"Activate New Haven" was created to showcase events around the city as well as construction and public works projects, meetings, monthly newsletters and more, according to a press release.
For example, the projects tab shows everything from leaf pickup times to updates on the highly-anticipated Fields of Grace sports complex. One whole section of the site is dedicated to the proposed casino, featuring an FAQ, statements from city officials, and research and data on what a hypothetical casino and entertainment complex would bring to the area.

The technology behind the site comes from Civify, a Fort Wayne-based tech company.
“With so many platforms out there, we wanted to streamline how citizens learn about and respond to city initiatives,” said New Haven Mayor Steve McMichael. “Working with Civify has allowed us to create a custom platform best suited to the needs of the city and our citizens.”
James Reitz, the president and founder of Civify, said the platform bridges the gap between city government and residents.
There's no cost to access the website, and Reitz explained those who subscribe can choose emails, texts or automated calls that allow the city to geographically pinpoint subscribers on a map and send a relevant, detailed alert about what's going on in the area.
