Pueblo Zoo welcomes endangered bats, invites public to name them

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — In celebration of Halloween, Pueblo Zoo announced the recent arrival of endangered bats and is letting the public even pick their names.
On Thursday, Oct. 31, Pueblo Zoo announced their newest addition via Facebook: three Rodrigues Flying Foxes, which are a type of bat also known as 'Flying Fruit Bats." These animals are critically endangered in the wild and are only found on an island close to Madagascar.

"We are honored to have so many in our care," wrote Pueblo Zoo via Facebook.
As a Halloween treat, keepers are allowing the public to help name the trio and have given the public four options:
Lilith, Zeparis and Mara
Marishka, Aleera, and Verona
Lock, Shock, and Barrel
Persephone, Calypso, and Artemis
Individuals can vote for their favorite name via Pueblo Zoo. The winning set of names will be announced at a later time on Thursday, Nov. 7.
