If warmer temperatures scare you, you’re probably horrified this Halloween. The Queen City topped out at 80° this Thursday afternoon, putting it in a tie for the seventh-warmest October 31st on record. Expect more of the same on Friday – the first day of November. If Charlotte were to crack 80° again on November 1st, it would be at least the sixth-warmest start to the 11th month of the year on record. That said, increasing cloud coverage along with the potential for a few showers and storms Friday afternoon and evening may make cracking the 80s a challenge for some in the Piedmont and Foothills as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Cooler air filters in behind the front as it passes through our area by the weekend, but highs should still cruise well into the 70s around the Metro on Saturday. Some models are pointing towards a winter wedge setup on Sunday and Monday, which would make it difficult for temperatures to climb out of the 50s and 60s across the board as we head into November’s first workweek. We should get at least some clearing into Election Day Tuesday, allowing highs to warm back into the 70s in the Piedmont and Foothills if they weren’t already there. The back half of the week ahead looks warm and dry. Tonight: Partly cloudy. Comfy. Low: 62°. Wind: NE 5-10. Friday: Mostly sunny early. More clouds and a few showers late. High: 80°. Wind: NE 5-10. Friday Night: A few showers early, then mostly cloudy. Low: 62°. Wind: NE 5-10. Saturday: AM mostly cloudy. PM mostly sunny. High: 64°. Wind: NE 5-10.
