BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A mayoral candidate in Donaldsonville is facing additional charges after a multi-parish stolen property scheme investigation. The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said Glenn Price, 68, was charged with money laundering over $100K and illegal transmission of monetary funds after turning himself in on Oct. 31. Jail records show Price bonded out after posting a $40,000 bond. Price was initially arrested and charged with illegal possession of stolen things and operating a scrap metal business without a license on Oct. 11. Theodore Myers and Kyle Melancon were recognized as suspects after deputies in Livingston Parish were conducting an investigation into stolen copper wire from utility poles. State representatives meet with Louisiana farmworkers to discuss Farm Bill During the investigation, detectives learned Myers and Melancon conducted multiple transactions with Price, who purchased stolen copper wire in cash. As part of the scheme, Price sold the stolen copper to a recycling center in Baton Rouge. Price reportedly profited over $25,000 from this scheme. Price was running against Leroy Sullivan Sr. in the mayoral race on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
