AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced to serve 40 years in prison following a plea deal Oct. 21 related to a July 2023 crash that killed four people. According to Travis County court documents, 36-year-old Arthur Lee Wright pleaded guilty to a total of five charges. Records showed four of Wright’s charges had two counts each for intoxication manslaughter and manslaughter; however, the manslaughter count was waived. The fifth count was for a collision involving death charge, and the sentence was five years in prison. The sentence for the four intoxication manslaughter counts was 20 years each, according to records. Three counts run concurrently, while one runs consecutive—resulting in the 40-year total sentence for Wright. An additional charge of accident involving death was dismissed, according to court documents. As of Thursday, Wright remained in custody at the Travis County jail. Toward his sentence, Wright received a jail credit of 450 days.
