Oct 31, 2024
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Widely scattered showers moved through Central Texas this morning and midday bringing some localized rain, but leaving many wanting more.
CENTRAL TEXAS RAINFALL TOTALS
Aside from a very low rain chance later this evening, we'll be partly cloudy and dry for trick or treating tonight!
Trick or Treat forecast Thursday
Overnight low clouds will increase and the chance for isolated showers will rise just slightly. Overnight lows drop down into the mid 60s making for a slightly cooler night.
The cold front that moved through Central Texas today will move back north as a warm front on Friday and will increase our chances for widely scattered showers and isolated storms, especially later in the day. Still most areas won't get much rain on Friday with rain coverage only reaching 30%.
A few showers and isolated storms possible on Friday
Higher rain chances build in for Saturday with rain chances rising to 50%, especially during the afternoon and early evening. A few thunderstorms and localized downpours will be possible, but most of the rain looks light on Saturday.
Sunday continues to be the dry day of the weekend with only a low (10%) rain chance on an otherwise partly sunny day.
Weekend forecast
Your best chance of rain appears to come with a strong cold front that ushers in rain and storms during the second half of Monday.
Cold front arriving later on Monday should boost rain chances
While the Storm Prediction Center favors the severe weather risk just north of our area on Monday into early Tuesday, it's possible some strong or severe storms may extend into Central Texas as well.
Severe risk on Monday into early Tuesday morning
Rainfall coverage should get most of Central Texas wet during the second half of Monday into early Tuesday morning.
Temperatures behind the front will drop into the 50s and night and 70s during the day!
