Jets place WR Allen Lazard and DT Leki Fotu on injured reserve
Oct 31, 2024
The Jets will be without a couple of key players for at least the next four games.
Wide receiver Allen Lazard and defensive tackle Leki Fotu were placed on injured reserve on Thursday afternoon.
Lazard injured his chest during the Jets’ Week 7 loss to the Steelers and missed last week’s game against the Patriots. He leads the Jets with five receiving touchdowns and ranks second among receivers on the team in receptions (30) and yards (412).
Lazard has been a security blanket for quarterback Aaron Rodgers this season because of their chemistry, which dates back to their five seasons as teammates in Green Bay.
Fotu signed a one-year contract in March to help the Jets improve their rushing defense. However, he has had trouble staying on the field.
Fotu began the season on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury he suffered during training camp. He was activated on Oct. 14 and only played two games before suffering a knee injury. Fotu has three tackles in two games.
In other roster moves, the Jets signed kicker Riley Patterson and offensive lineman Alec Lindstrom to the active roster. They also activated TE Kenny Yeboah off of injured reserve and released TE Anthony Firkser.
Patterson was signed to the Jets practice squad along with Spencer Shrader after they placed Greg Zuerlein (non-kicking knee) on injured reserve. Patterson was released in August by the Commanders after spending training camp with the team. During the preseason, Patterson converted 2-of-3 field goals and an extra point.
During his five NFL seasons, Patterson has made 88% of his field-goal attempts (59-of-67) and 96% of his extra points (93-of-97).
Lindstrom signed with the Jets practice squad on Oct. 9 and was released on Oct. 17 before rejoining the team on Oct. 23. With Alijah Vera-Tucker injured (ankle), Lindstrom will provide an extra body on the offensive line.
Yeboah began the season on injured reserve after injuring his groin during the preseason.
