ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — An investigation into illegal cannabis sales in Greece led to seven people's arrests. The Greece Police Department said they were investigating illegal sales at Red Eye Smoke Shop on West Ridge Road. Investigators determined the owners and operators of the smoke shop also operated other businesses and illegally sold cannabis throughout Monroe county. Irondequoit business shut down by Office of Cannabis Management Searches were conducted at other Red Eye locations on West Ridge Road, Irondequoit, Webster, and Ogden. Other businesses that were searched included the vacant "Diva Hair Design" on East Ridge Road, Lift Off Smoke Shop on Monroe Avenue, McCall Mini Mart on McCall Road, and High End Smoke Shop on East Henrietta Road. Investigators said none of these businesses were licensed by the Office of Cannabis Management to conduct cannabis sales. In addition, the Town of Greece voted to opt out of allowing cannabis dispensaries and consumption sites. Officers also searched six homes and five vehicles and seized 129 pounds of bulk cannabis, 826 pounds of THC products, 108 pounds of psilocybin products, $628,000 in currency, $459,083 from bank accounts, and the vehicles. All of the businesses have been shut down by the Office of Cannabis Management as the investigation unfolds.
