Oct 31, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Today is Halloween — and there are still plenty of spooky and fun activities to enjoy in the Rochester area.
Some haunted houses, including Nightmare Manor, Dark Matter Scream Works, and Insomnia House, are opening up on Halloween. These attractions provide an adventure filled with detailed setpieces and scares.
Some of these attractions are not suitable for young children or the faint of heart. You can learn more about these attractions by clicking here.
There are multiple family-friendly Halloween events. One of these is a trick-or-treat event happening at the Strong National Museum of Play. Kids are invited to go trick-or-treating around the museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while meeting costumed characters.
Another trick-or-treat event happening tonight is "Aveoween." The event begins at the Lincoln Branch Library from 6 to 8 p.m. Hosted by the Avenue Children's Theatre Project, guests will be able to go trick-or-treating with characters from movies, plays, shows, or books.
There is also an alternative to trick-or-treating known as "Trunk-or-Treat." Instead of going door-to-door in a neighborhood, kids go from car-to-car in a parking lot. These events are being hosted by Grace Church from 5-7 p.m., KinderCare from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and at Equal Grounds' "Haunted Cafe" from 6 to 9 p.m.
For adults, there is the Rochester Halloween Bar Crawl happening from 5 to 11 p.m. starting at O'Callaghan's Pub on Monroe Avenue. There will be drinks, dancing, and a costume contest during the crawl.
Lastly, after Halloween, there is the second annual Halloween Rave returning to Photo City Music Hall on November 1. The rave will begin at 8 p.m.
