A look at November weather in Massachusetts

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - With Friday being November 1st, many wonder what the month may look like when it comes to the weather.
November can be a month of extremes from warm temperatures to arctic outbreaks and snowstorms. Typically, here in western Massachusetts, the average high temperature is 51 degrees. The average low temperature is 32 degrees, and November can be wet with 3.7 inches of rain on average.

November is also known to be the beginning of significant snowfalls in New England. Here in the Pioneer Valley, the average snow is 2.5 inches in November.
The record high temperature for November was 81 degrees set on November 2, 1950, and the record coldest temperature was -4 degrees on November 24, 1989. The largest snowfall for the month occurred on November 25, 1971, with 12.2 inches of snow falling in Springfield.
While we don't see any snow in the near future, November is a good month to start the winter preparations and make sure your snowblower is working and you have all your winter necessities.
