HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The 13th annual Uncork Hope 'Hope Flourishes' Fundraiser will be held in Henrico County in the beginning of November, raising funds to support children with special needs. 8News spoke with Medical Home Plus to learn more about what the event entails.
In the morning on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 8News Anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall spoke with Cheyenne Jiancristoforo with Medical Home Plus (MHP) about the organization's mission and its fundraiser.
"MHP is a statewide organization, we serve all of Virginia, actually last year, we were in 61 cities and counties throughout Virginia, and we help families of children with special healthcare needs connect to local community resources," Jiancristoforo said. "It can often be very overwhelming when a parent receives a diagnosis on behalf of a child, and so we actually employ parents of children with special needs themselves to help those families get access to the best resources for their children."
She continued to say that the organization often assists parents through public schools, including helping parents advocate for their child's access to accommodations.
Jiancristoforo said the Uncork Hope Fundraiser will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Guzman Community Center, located at 5200 Fitzhugh Avenue in Henrico County.
The event will entail live entertainment, a silent auction, a wine and spirits wall and more. For more information about the event, visit Medical Home Plus' website.
