Lexington native closes out World Series win for the Dodgers
Oct 31, 2024
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – For the eighth time in franchise history, the Los Angeles Dodgers have captured the World Series title, defeating the New York Yankees in five games. The final win came in a nail-biting fashion, with Lexington native Walker Buehler stepping in to close the ninth inning.
The Henry Clay High School alum didn’t allow a single run, striking out two batters, including Alex Verdugo with a well-placed breaking ball to secure the victory. Buehler, drafted by the Dodgers in 2015 after a successful college career with Vanderbilt, made his MLB debut in 2017. Since then, he’s been selected twice as an All-Star and now celebrates his second World Series championship.
Congratulations to Walker Buehler and the Los Angeles Dodgers on this impressive World Series win.
